Visit exhibition at Beningbrough Hall
5 March 2025 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
£5Visit to the Mary Delaney Exhibition at Beningborough Hall
Laura Turner, formerly curator at York Art Gallery, will give a conducted tour of a photographic exhibition showcasing the work of Mary Delaney (1700-88). Already an accomplished needlewoman and artist, decorating walls, ceilings and mantelpieces and cutting silhouettes of family groups, at the age of 72 Mary Delaney started work on her ‘paper mosaics’. It is for these floral and botanically accurate representations that she is now best remembered. Beningborough Hall is hosting a collection of high definition photographs of these ‘mosaics’-the orginals of which are held in the British Museum and too fragile to travel.
This will involve self-organised travel, so if you need transport please contact the organiser. Cost £5 per head plus £14 for general entry to Beningborough for those without National Trust membership.
